  • HFL saga episode 1

I started this story when i was maybe twelve or thirteen. I desided not to fix it up to much because it's a classic piece of my imagination so you either like it or you don't. Enjoy :)

    Last episode hint:

    I watch... i breath... i see... i sense... i think... i smell... i can feel it...
I look up at the sky... it's clear finally... it's been cleared... by me... by my death...

    It's wonderful... so... so...

Oceans are so vast... lots of new things in the depth of the seas... things that many have yet to explore, yet to find or yet to never find...
Oceans are like a person... so vastly expanding, life oriented and constantly moving and discovering new things... that is an ocean... that is a person...

I may be somewhere else right now... but i still have a journey to experience... one that is much longer and much more complicated then the one i just finished. This journey is everlasting... And as sad as that sounds, it is nothing but wonder, discovery and purity of man and his creations...

My name is Jed-Anakara-Suki and this is my story

    575 years into the future....

The memories a person contains are much vaster then that of an ocean. Every little drop in the ocean, if possible, could be made into a memory..... a memory so old, older then mine...

I sat at the nearby coffee shop like I usually did. My coffee was gloomy and plain, just like my life had been for 100 years. I did this for 100 years now for I had nothing else to do, and even now, I still sit here..... here...... the same memories playing over and over again... always.

“Hand them over Kagra those are MY ASHES!”

I couldn’t believe it. That boy with the bright blue eyes was looking at me again, starring right into my face like he didn’t even realize what he had done to me. I wasn’t going to give up those damn ashes. He didn’t know what the fuck he was doing or who he was. They were my ashes now.

“You don’t understand, I can bring you back to life!”

“THOSE ARE MY ASHES KAGRA! GIVE THEM TO ME!”

I wanted to cry now. I could feel the ball you get in your throat when you’re so sad it piles up in there for some reason. My eyes were blurry and I really couldn’t hold it anymore. I felt tears roll down my face. I felt so stupid.

He had no sympathy in his eyes. His light blonde hair radiating in the patchy desert sunlight. What were the odds of chasing him down to this rendezvous point? 0 to infinity really.

He bolted at me and instantly snatched the bag but I held tightly on to it. Hell, I wouldn’t let go.

    “Leave it Jed!”

I wrestled with him for a good two minutes before kicking him away giving me time to host it in my pockets. I sighed, wiped my forehead and panted for a bit.

    “Jed WHY!” I screamed.

He looked at me without words hoping that I would give in and hand him the ashes. If I did, I would be alone again in this rigidly old body, adventure-less and prone to wait for my death hoping he would reappear again. I didn’t understand the after life so no way in hell would I trust death to reunite us.

Again, he bolted at me head butting me square in the chest toppling me over and onto the ground. I struggled to locate him and just as I did, he was above me with a sinister childlike smile. After all, he was a child. He had his ashes.

I began to sob. I wanted him to explain but he never would. Jed loved playing these games when he thought it wasn’t as bad as I perceived it. He knew we would see each other again, but when? When would we see each other?

I cupped my face into my hand in awe at all the memories I had. "Memories of happiness, joy, sadness..... sadness.... my god, am I ever sad....

In my memories, I have war, I have destruction, I have hatred, I have smiles, I have frowns, I have blood, I have death, I have deserts, I have mountains, I have oceans, I have cities, I have family, I have friends, I have a husband, I have........ nothing left...... really. Dear God Jed, your life was perfect, so easy. You had it all planned out didnt you.... you awe me i hope u know...... especially that you have let me live with this terrible sin for 100 years.
I sit here, well, I sat here, crying for years about you. Now I can not cry........ Old ladies dont cry...... They can't cry

I see a young Jed, i see an adult Jed........i dont see an old Jed. No, Jed, you escaped old age....left me behind as an old hag who just turned 275 this month. How much longer have i got really? another 100 to go. I don't think so....
Here, ill make you a deal.....how about i tell the world our secret eh? How about I go on right ahead and tell them all about it! Everyone loves a story and an example dont they! Hump! Not like you can stop me anyways ........ because........ fool .............. your dead ........... and it's about time I join you, so thats why, today, I have decided to poison my coffee and drink it! Lets see you stop me Jed!

I smiled at my coffee now, my heavy wrinkles agreeing with me and I brought the mug to her lips. I had lived enough and I had to end it.
My 275 years of existence is to much. I kept changing city in fear of suspicion, but now, I really cant give a damn. I am too old! And I will be old for another 100 years damn it

Suddenly, I felt the air and the sensation that I only felt when I was young. It was a supernatural sensation, yet, completely natural to me. It was only I hadnt felt it in so long.
My god, I am finally awakened. Finally useful. Finally dead.....

I gazed up from my reflection in the mug only to see what I wasn't entirely surprised to see. It was Jed-
ever young. he's even grinning at me
tears were brought to my old eyes. The tears burned all the way up my eye shafts and I took a deep breath and shouted.
You leave me for 100 years, alone and miserable and then come to get me with a grin?! Who the hell do you think you are? get away from me!!
I threw my boiling hot coffee at him. To my surprise, it went right threw him. The whole snack bar went silent as they saw this supernatural event unfolding before their eyes.

Mine were completely wide now. This was not a hallucination. This was real......

"Come you old hag" he snapped with a suspenseful tone "It's time for you to leave and travel the stars with me, your time is up"

My eyes narrowed and absorbed the suspense in his tone. I tried to absorb every word he was saying because I hadn't heard his voice in so long. The voice that made me smile every day.
The voice and body that had protected me against guns, war, death, guilt and sin......... The voice which had left me....

"No" I said calmly "You are not real, you are just trying to make me crazier...... I am not buying it...... Plus, how do you think Shou, Amaya, Sasuke and everyone else we love will react, you know, the people you abandoned?"

"How would they have reacted if you had poisoned yourself with coffee?" He mumbled still suspenseful in tone "now, take my arm, it's time for you to leave"

"No!" I yelled back. We could suddenly hear police sirens in the background, coming for us. I gave a light smile at first then I laughed aloud. Someone had called the police.

He kept calm and looked around the room ever so elegantly. I didn't bother following his eyes. I had way to many questions for him.

How is he still so youthful? Did he even die? Where was he for the last 100 years? What a bastard I thought to myself
"Come now" Jed said calmly "if you dont, ill make you"
"Oh, I was coming, dont worry" I said without meeting his gaze.
"Now, Kagra, are you ready? I need you to say yes" he said quickly.
The police were inside the snack bar by now, frozen in place and telling us to freeze. It was not the first time this had happened, but it was the last time for I was about to touch Jed's arm

My smile grew... I knew that once I touched his arm, I would finally be free from this human world.

A gun fire was sounded but I caught the bullet with my secret reflex.
"Usually I would have let it fall on the table, but this time, I will not" I mumbled with a smile

"You weak people" I barked in my sinister voice finally feeling alive again "You have no reason to live... so why don't we have one of you join me... after all, your nothing but a bunch of Hell-benders-
At that moment, I flicked my wrist sending the bullet out of my hand.
It headed at a young officers head, ready to penetrate and kill him, but it was slapped down swiftly by Jed who had magically made his way to block the bullet...
"Your a party pooper" I responded without a smile "lets go already"
"you dont need to take someone with you" He said quietly "be nicer"
"Everyone gets dumped into an ocean of souls anyways" I replied quietly "why would it matter?"
"come" He said ignoring my question and he reached out for me

At his touch, I began to transform suddenly. My body exploded, literally and I was in new, skinny and youthful looking skin. My wonderful youthful skin. Mine. My pride, my beauty, my happiness was back, and I was ready....

"Alright, Jed, take me to wherever it is we are going" I snapped with extreme pleasure "It's about time you take me out of this rat hole"

"sorry for everything" He said with blunt honesty

I was suddenly floating off my chair. Nothing was touching reality anymore and I was suddenly whipped away, in a blink of an eye and never to be seen again. Our bodies, if I could describe it, vanished into the air. It looked almost like a slash of humidity in the summer air.

My life was over and now, I could finally live the immortal one. The one promised with youth. Just like Jed said, it was time for me to travel the stars.......

The snack bar was silenced. The police were confused and scarred, the onlookers shocked and everything around them was suddenly so mysterious... They were bound to the chains of the cave, i never was.
However, mysteries are part of the mind......... and the mind, well, that is a mystery....
    mystery was life...

    My name was Kagra-Anakara-Suki

Episode 1 (written when i was thirteen)--- Childhood

“Why did you have to come with me” Jed taunted, face heavy with boredom “I never asked for your help”

JED: (pronounced j-ie-d) had spiky dirty blonde looking hair. It's color was not normal. Nobody really had a mix of color's like he did. Mixes of dark brown, light brown, blond, reflections of red and all sort's of fancy colors. However it was not stupid looking at all, simply astonishing. He wore a cap but half way showing his unique hair shoot out in the front, looking like it was gelled. The rest of his hair was matted down or shoved back into his hat, looking untidy and messy, but a passing note for society.
He wore a green shirt with black shorts, black shoes with a red stripe trailing across them. Nothing to eye captivating.
He had very light brown eyes, almost grey as it seemed. He also was the one carrying the knapsack on this mysterious journey they were attending.

“Well I never wanted to!” Kargra yelled sticking her face in his face. Her voice had cracked for how loud she screamed in anger and frustration. Jed was definitely not one to understand. “I just came because I either felt bad or was forced too!! GOD JED!"

KAGRA: (pronounced ka-ger-ra) wore a deep blue shirt with a light blue circle on it.
She had deep blue jeans which fell only ¾ of the way showing off a bit of her calves.
She had dark navy blue eyes, which were intruging and stuck out like large diamonds. They were one of her best features.
Her hair was always in a ponytail holding her long, dark black hair matted tightly to her skull in a beautiful way letting it flow down her back.

The boys always had there eyes on her and when she would see one she liked, she would blow a kiss and wink. For no reason, the boy she did that too would get all in his thoughts wearing a stupid expression. She loved her looks with a passion.

“Well then go home” Jed said plainly "if your going to scream-"

“No way, not when were this far out” Kagra said cutting him off “besides it keeps me out of trouble”.

Jed looked over at her and gave a small laugh.
“Out of trouble?” Jed mumbled mildly.

    “yeah!” Kagra exclaimed sounding confident.

Kagra sped up on her motorcycle leaving Jed in her dust. Jed sped up to catch up with her again. The road was vacant with occasionally one or two cars passing by. The clear blue sky washed over them with minor clouds in it. It was a pleasant ride to them, which ment a good future in there superstition.

“So tell me, why are we going out looking across the planet for a couple of stupid letters that we cant even read that were bewitched and flew away?” Kagra said.

Jed looked at her and turned to face the road again.

“Jed” Kagra said with a raising mocking tone in her voice.

“you never shut up do you” Jed said “father already told us why.”

“Yeah and why?” Kagra asked with a girly mock in her voice

“because Im going to find out about me” Jed replied without expression.

“well who cares about who you are, you look human and act it so why don’t you think your real mom and dad put that rock In your ball, its probably your first drawing or something” Kagra barked stupidly.

“Wow Kagra, good one” Jed snapped “on top of that, do you really believe a first drawing just gets up and flys away?”

“Well no” Kagra jumped quickly “but still, like I said, why do you care? What is this going to prove besides the fact that your not from here?”

“I don’t know but I have a feeling im suppose to find out” Jed said and the two blasted off towards a cut off were Jed said he sensed a letter.

    Back at Mr.Suki’s house::::::
Mr.Suki was humming in the kitchen wile he was making his famous stir fry in a pan. He looked out the window to see 3 hover cars fly by quickly.
"Dangerous" Mr. Suki said with a worried look and he turned back to his recipe book on the square table to read the ingredients. The color in his face came back to him. “I added one cup of water-wait that not right, it says add also with the water the soya sauce in the same cup” Mr. Suki said.

He took the soya sauce and poured one cup into the pan and added the vegetables right after. “Let sit for two minutes and wait for water to vapor, stir occasionally” He said “but wont it over-fry in the pan?”

(Back in the outskirts of a desert)

“Wait Jed, we haven’t eaten, we'd better call dad at the pit center over there” Kagra said with reason.

Jed looked over at Kagra then over at a few floating and grounded signs. One of them read pit stop, 3 miles. Jed looked back at Kagra and spoke.

“Fine” Jed said “but only for a bit, i'm really serious about this”

Then center appeared shortly after and Jed and Kagra raced over to it. Kagra parked her motorcycle on the window of the center wile Jed followed the parking indications. Kagra walked inside followed by Jed who held the door open for her. Kagra went to the phone.

(This was a device that could teleport things from one place to another by turning an object into a form of light, making it travel threw the ki net (name for the net/future phone and computer)).
Kagra went up to it and it spoke as soon as it sensed her.

“Please insert the community card” the phone box said.

Kagra took out a silver card with small holes punched at the bottom of the card and inserted it into the card slot.

“Thank you please hold” the phone box said. A few moments later the phone was answered by Mr. Suki.

    “Hello?” Mr. Suki said.

“Hey dad its Kagra” Kagra said with a positive tone.
“and Jed” Jed muttered quietly beside her.
“Is supper ready?!” Kagra said with a smile.
“Yes! It is. I'm sending you it right now” Mr. Suki said with a warm smile “It might taste funny though.”

Mr. Suki brought the plate to a platform were the plate disappeared into a white light and reappeared in front of Kagra on the platform.
“Well it smells good” Kagra said.
“Hope you enjoy” Mr. Suki said “ I can't cook well, but i'll try...hows the trip?!”
“Good” Kagra said “were staying here for the night so ill call in the morning.”

Jed looked angry at the fact that they were staying overnight but he calmed himself down quickly. Jed knew that whenever they called Mr.Suki, Kagra had the upper hand to manipulate everything around him, including his plans. Phone calls with Mr. Suki was the only place Kagra could decide what happens next.

“Alright but don’t forget” Mr. Suki said “and Jed.”
Jed rose an eyebrow while falling out of his daydream and he cut in front of Kagra.
    “Yeah” Jed mumbled.
“On your way down this desert path, you'll notice a mountain range appear into view not to far from here. Look for an obvious mountain with a big ring of gold. In the gold circle, Kar is written. Turn there. He's good with books; he knows a lot about the guardians~” Mr. Suki said almost in a whisper “....He might even know a bit about your race...”
There was a light silence and a sudden roar was heard from behind him.

“Hurry up your plates getting cold!” Kagra yelled.
“Goodnight Jed” Mr. Suki said “Ill tell you more in the morning.”
“night” Jed said and he pressed the red button and the screen shut off. The silver card popped out. Jed took the card and tossed it to Kagra while walking towards her. Kagra caught it and slipped it into her pocket.
“Were going to have to check in” Kagra said, “I didn’t do that yet.”
“manipulatative brat” Jed mumbled “Now can you give me my plate.”

Kagra gave a sarcastic laugh because Jed ignored her statement. She slid his plate across the glass table and starred up into his lifeless looking eyes for a brief moment...

During the supper, they ate and talked about there own things and how there trip is going and what its like to be where they are. Sibling chatter was being used with long silences in between there chit chat and the occasional "shut up" or no reaction to something funny the other sibling found funny.
Kagra attention shifted slightly during the supper and she began to glance at this guy across from her because he kept glancing at her. Jed turned to look at what she was glancing at.
“Are you serious?!” Jed exclaimed in a very disgusted tone.
“What the hell? Hell no!” Kagra whispeared “Its because every two seconds he keeps glancing at me.”
“Well go tell him to stop” Jed replied in a monotone for some reason.
“no way, im not like that” Kagra said taking her elastic out of her hair and retying it.

The man eventually left the table and disappeared behind a door.

“Well that’s a relief” Kagra sighed and she looked outside in the pitch black trying to find her hover cycle.
“Where my hover cycle?!” Kargra said panicking.
“Don’t worry I parked it in a legal parking meter” Jed said.

    Night had crawled in.
The lobby of the pit center was quite and dim. Nothing stirred except for the quite talking of Jed and Kagra. Even the receptionist had left awkwardly, yet she came back. She might have gone to the washroom Kagra judged.

“Well we'd better go check in before the booth closes” Jed suggested secretly hoping it had closed so they can continue down the highway like they should be doing, despite the time.
    “Right” Kagra said getting up.

Jed followed her to the registration. Kagra spoke for them and the lady led them too there room were she asked Kagra and Jed to put there hands on the scanner. Jed and Kagra did so and the door opened. The lady nodded and left. Jed put his bag on the floor of the hotel room and crawled into his bed as Kagra went in the washroom and put her pajamas on. Kagra came back and went into her bed and plugged in a nightlight that was in Jed’s bag. They both fell asleep quickly.

The moon reflected into there window occasionally with clouds crossing over its path which block it's beautiful white lacquer.
Kagra’s covers were a mess around her and she occasionally grunted...Jed laid quietly sound asleep.

At around 2 in the morning, something odd happened. With the small nightlight in the corner, a shadow ran by reflecting off the night light sinisterly. Jed opened his eyes and got up strait in his bed. His eyes were narrow from his sleep but he was ready for whatever he suspected. He narrowed his eyes even more and looked around with a drop of sweat dripping from the side of his head. He tightened his jaw speaking in a whisper.

“Kagra” He whispered sharply staring right at the shadow.

It took a few seconds for Kagra to react but Jed's whisper did wake her up.
“What?!” She said loudly and half asleep waving one arm out of the covers.

    “We’ve got company” Jed whispered.

SURPRISE!! Kagra yelled stupidly with a deep sleepy voice, entranced by a foolish darkness

    Kagra get up” Jed said.

Kagra shot up like a bullet and faced Jed with her eyes half open and the covers still over her head.

“Just had to ruin my dream” Kagra mumbled in a rusty voice.

“shhhht” Jed sounded as he watched the shadow leave

“Get dressed were leaving” Jed hissed as he moved over to his bag slowly. He threw on his same outfit he wore yesterday and threw Kagra’s stuff at her face.

    “owww” Kagra moaned.
“just take your crap and get dressed quickly” Jed whispered.
“Why are we leaving?” Kagra whinned.
“were being followed” Jed replied quietly.

    Kagra started laughing unexpectedly.

“You know you crack me up” Kagra exlaimed “you chose the best time. Its probably just a random person walking by; it’s a hotel you know, people do that.”

“Not at 4 in the morning” Jed said “get dressed.”

“He’s probably going to work” Kagra said tired "i hate you. Your so damn pointless"

Kagra slowly got dressed. She wore the exactly same outfit she wore yesterday.
When she was ready, Jed put his hand on the door knob but didn’t turn it.

“What are you waiting for?!” She whispered harshly.

“shhht” Jed whispered theres someone on the other side of the door.”
“How do you know that?” Kagra wispered.
“because I turned it a bit and I felt someone holding it” Jed whispered back.

“well open it, were probably stronger than the thing” Kagra whispered “if your too scared ill open it.”

“Fine” Jed whispered switching places with Kagra.

She looked a bit surprised when Jed said “fine” but she went ahead anyway. Kagra put her hand on the door knob and swung it open.
A figure was pulled forward because of Kagras pull, and Kagra brought her fist to her side and punched it in the face, ending with a loud shriek of shock.
It tripped and flew into the wall on the other side.
The figured head pounded the wall hard and slowly slid down it to sit clumsily.

Kagra gave a light scream and she wiggled her wrist.

    “Oww” Kagra mumbled.

Both of them walked up to the thing and realized it was the same man who kept glancing at Kagra back in the hotel lobby at the phone center.

“Its that guy!” kagra exclaimed wide eyed “I think hes unconscious thou.”

The man wore a green jacket with a red thunder bolt at the corner of his jacket. He had long brown hair and seemed to be around the age of 40. He was a total mess also. Blood oozed out of his nose trailing down past his chin creeping it's way down his neck. It dripped from his adams apple and on.

“it’s a loyalist” Jed noted with a question following his statement “what is he doing all the way out here, weren’t they granted their half of the earth.”

“Hes probably a spy, but what does he want with us?” Kagra asked quietly

After a few moments of staring at him the man brought his hand to his face and rubbed it with a groan of pain.

Jed and Kagra got into a defense stance incase the man advanced on them.

“H-how dare you” the man barked getting up wobbly “I-im a elite soldier, you must obey me.”

“An elite?! you cant even recover from my punch.”

“Shut up” he said smoothly and he pulled out a gun. He fired it immediately.

Jed blasted up to the gun, dodging the bullet, and knocked the gun out of his hand and with his palm. He pushed the loyalist against the wall and grabbed him by the jacket sliding him high against the wall.

On the opposite wall, a clear hole was seen for it was where the bullet had cut threw. Kagra stood not to far from it with her arms crossed. She was bitting her lip and thinking for some reason. Quite ironically, it had nothing to do with the scene in front of her.

“Why are you here?” Jed asked calmly, as if it took no effort to take this man out.

“I must eliminate you” the Loyalist said “your power level is above average.”

    Jed moved back.

“Your trying to eliminate me because my power is too high?” Jed mumbled with an expression of horror.

“Yeah my groups been doing that” the Loyalist said with a smile.

The dim lobby lights turned on completely and security was coming threw the glass doors. Jed kneed the Loyalist making him fall to his knees. The Loyalist cried out in pain, coughing horribly as he endured the blow.

“Lets go” Jed snapped yanking Kagra along.

The two dodged security who tried to grab them and they jumped down the flight of stairs. They both ran out to there hover cycles and blasted out with security chasing them through the doors, hopped into their hover cars and zoomed quickly chasing Jed and Kagra.

“Why did you have to knee him?” Kagra was saying while tying her hair into a ponytail, taking her hands of the handles.
“Because he was going to go back to his boss and report this too him” Jed muttered "at least i didn't kill him".
"oh shut up" Kagra snapped "by the way, why were we whispering in our room when it's completely sound proof from the inside?"

The cop car sirens blew and Kagra and Jed sped up on there hover cycles. Kagra looked behind her, forgetting about her question for the moment being.

The sun was just rising and it was around 4:30am. They past threw a silent city as the cop car sirens woke it up. When they passed the cities boundary limit, they noticed a cut off and took it to distract the cop cars. Kagra and Jed turned their hover cycles completely to face the cops. Kagra's hair flew in her face violently due to the sharp turn they had made and her eyes narrowed deeply. The blue in her eyes glowed fiercely.
The cop cars in attempt to stop swerved out of control and smashed into each other causing a blazing fire.
As soon as they crashed, Kagra and Jed sped off into the sun rise with much guilt on there faces.

(Back at the pit center/ Jed and Kagra's hotel suite)

“A loyalist eh?” A random detective was saying “well that explains a lot.”
“Sir what about those two kids?” A female police officer asked.
“Leave them. It doesn’t really matter. They gave us a clue to various murders...they still aren’t pleased with the fact that the have half the planet, there still tying to eliminate the strongest.”

    The loyalist started talking.

It caught the attention of everyone.

“Those stupid kids, when the boss finds out their finished!! They took on an elite!”

The detective looked at the loyalists nose.

“Well I see your nose is broken...did the guy or the girl do that to you? It looks like the gir—”
“Go fuck yourself” the loyalist barked.

“Get him out of here” The detective said quietly to the cops as they helped him to his feet and handcuffed him to walk him out of the pit center.

“What are we going to do about the spies detective?” A pale blonde woman said moving her notepad out of her pocket.
“Well first we should go sit down and drink coffee, Alexisriahe” he said “did I pronounce it right?”
Alexisriahe blushed and her cheeks turned scarlet instead of red.

    (Back at a cut off)

“Lets stop at another pit center, I want to call dad” Kagra pleaded.

    Jed simply glanced at Kagra.

    “What??” Kagra exclaimed

“no, nothing its just that the letter im sensing is close and I really want to end this journey...its getting too weird.”

“I like it with the sun, I get a tan” Kagra said smiling and ignoring Jed.

“Yeah, but wait till we find the letter im sensing. It’s the farthest one, its in the northern part of the world, but get this its on the loyalist territory...so enjoy the time being.”
Kagra seemed taken aback by his sentence but shook it off quickly

“You need to stop being so serious all the time have some fun.”
“If you can point out fun in being attacked, chased by cop cars” Jed said “then ill enjoy myself.”

Kagra gave an annoyed look at Jed, who put his legs on the handles and lied back on his hover cycle seat.

“well I guess your hopeless” Kagra said.

The sun shone brightly on the gravel. It's beautiful yellow look radiated down on this vast desert which clearly did not contain a lust mountain range.
Kagra was playing with her hover cycles map which was electronically installed into it. She kept pressing random buttons on the touch map trying to figure something out.

    “Wait” Kagra muttered to herself.
    “Hey Jed!” she yelled.

“what?...and don’t yell i am like right beside you.”

“There a pit center coming up in about 10 minutes” Kagra exlaimed “and after that theres nothing but mountains.”

    “Really” Jed said boringly.
“Im trying to help, and plus we didn’t have breakfast.” Kagra barked pugnaciously.

Jed stomach growled violently at the word breakfast.

At the pit center calling booth a few minutes later.

“Insert your community card please” the box said.

Kagra took her card out of her pocket and slipped it into the slot.
“Thank you please hold” the machine said.

the screen lit up with Mr. Sukis face.

    “Morning” Mr.Suki said.
“dad you wouldn’t belive wha-” Kagra tried to say
“Kagra” Jed said shaking his head

“Its okay Jed, I know what you encountered” Mr. Suki said with a shine in his faded and father like glasses, “...the loyalist....right?”

    “Loyalist”
This was the word that stunned Jed and Kagra the most. Especially when it was Mr. Suki who said it.

“how do you know about that?” Jed snapped quickly seeming like a major privacy invasion had just occurred.

Everyone suddenly went silent for a really odd reason. They all glared out the window....
Kagra's navy blue iris swallowed her pupil in a mater of seconds...
The sun, the pure yellow sun, had risen halfway into the sky unnoticeable until now.
The red couches, the pure white tiles, the elegant red desk, the beautiful soft grey curtains, the large square clock and the rest of the decor faded quietly under the purity of the sun.
It was so pure, so bright, so strong...

Kagra reached out a hand to pass it through the sunlight and felt warm immediately. Even Mr.Suki, who was on the other side of the screen seemed to be squinting.

"thats...one hell of a sunrise" Jed mumbled. The green in his eyes were all that we could see now. His pupil had also been swallowed by his iris.

    "y...eah" Kagra replied still entranced

the sun...the purity of the sun...

"thats a really strong desert sunrise" Mr. Suki said from the other end of the line "I even find myself squinting!"

A distraction happened and Kagra fell back to her question and Mr. Suki answered it properly.

“I know everything that you did. You didn’t even need to tell me who was calling because I already knew” Mr. Suki replied smiling sharply.

“Dad you need to explain to me what this is about” Kagra said snapping back into the conversation.

Jed stood quietly beside Kagra still starring out of the window, entranced by this strong sunlight.

“Well, technology is really advanced lets say” Mr. Suki explained “did you really think I would let you go without anything following you or anything to tell me where you just might be, besides the fact that we could communicate through the telephone?”

“Knowing you not really” Kagra mumbled under her breath.

“I have a sensor camera that can detect when something is wrong, its really effective; I called in security when it started beeping today... quite early” Mr. Suki frowned “I called them in even knowing you could get out of anything; I saved you from that loyalist.”

“But wait, how did you know it was a loyalist?” Kagra asked “and how big is the camera?”
“Wait one question at a time” Mr. Suki replied, “I know because the camera states where this person comes from and it states who it is, that’s how I knew; and its very handy, its as small as a molecule.”

“So its with us right now?” Jed asked quickly.

“yup it is” Mr. Suki said, “but don’t worry, I do give people privacy, so I gave you one that beeps instead of the full thing were I can see you.”

“Well that’s good” Kagra mumbled thinking about what might happen later on in this journey
“Anyway, to get to my point of yesterday Jed, the mountain I want you to find is the mountain of Kar in the mountains of Ra. Its really easy to find. like i said yesterday, It’s the only one with a golden ring and three words in it. KAR” Mr. Suki said “and once you see the cut off, “Mountains of Ra”, go to it, but dont draw any attention to yourself!! My old friend Kar will be there. He’s already expecting you….”

“Alright” Jed said with a new smile “were heading out after we finish talking.”

Kagra’s stomatch growled softly. Her expression swirled oddly.

“Hey dad, can we have breakfast, im starved” Kagra said.
Jed gave Kagra the ultimate dirty look.
    Mr. Suki laughed

“Of corse!” Mr. Suki exclaimed “I was just waiting for one of you to speak up!”

Mr. Suki sent two plates of pancakes threw the Ki net. A great smile grew on Kagra’s face. Jed even managed a smile.

“Thanks dad” Kagra said “ill call you tonight, maybe.”
“Alright Kagra” Mr. Suki said “and Jed, like I said---please, don’t draw any attention to yourself.”

Jed nodded and Kagra pushed the red button. The screen immediately turned off and the silver card popped out of the card slot.
She took it and walked over to a 'table of two' and placed her pancakes down and ate them. Jed did the same.

A short 15 minutes later, they were out of the place and headed for the mountains of Ra. With the sun still shining brightly, Jed and Kagra sped threw the highway passing a few cars with ease.

“Hey Jed, what do you think about my dad's cameracule?” Kagra asked.
“You named it?" Jed said still seeming taken aback by her 'my dad's' camera cule–“well Ill tell you, I hate it, now I have to be careful with what I say and do.”
“No, I don’t think dad would care too much with what you do because he would say you did it because you wanted to” Kagra said jumping to a conclusion.

One hour later, there was still no sight of the mountains of Ra. They were all becoming extremely furious and angry with the fact that they saw nothing for miles on. It made Jed sick

“Hey do you see any mountain of Ra?!” Jed snapped quickly and temperamentally

“No I don’t, and my map says we should be there right now” Kagra said.

She looked up far threw the road and narrowed her eye’s to notice some white capped mountains.

“Jed I see them!” Kagra yelled.

Jed looked hard and saw them too.

They were ordinary mountains, except they had much steeper and higher tops then average ones. They were almost jagged looking.
When they came a bit closer to the mountains, Jed and Kagra noticed a city in the near distance. The road went right threw it and Jed seemed to notice something he had to say, which infact, Kagra should be saying.

“Don’t draw attention Kagra” Jed whispered mockingly.
“didn’t dad tell you not to draw attention?” Kagra whispered back in the same mocking tone.
“yeah, but he made a mistake” Jed corrected “you’re the one with the mouth.”
“YOU’RE THE ONE WITH THE ATTITUED!!” Kagra barked as they zoomed into the city.

    ------------------ (in the city barriers)----------------------------

“Im the ONE with THE mouth EH!!?” Kagra barked again making her voice change from high to low.

Kagra stopped shouting when she noticed that the houses were boarded up. She looked from house to a building and the same was done to every single one. It was as if they were preparing for an extream hurricane. Yet, her mind was changed when she took a glance at the roads. She notice they had died out of color and the sidewalks were cracked and horrible. The architecture was deprived from color and was nasty to look at.

    The place was completely deserted…

“What is this” Kagra said as she looked around wide eyed "it looks like a war reminant town..."

“Well, I don’t know” Jed answered

“But why doesn’t anyone live here? Kagra said without realizing how dumb her question was.
“i wont even bother answering that" Jed said mocking Kagra’s question “I think thats the dumbest thing you have said all tri-”

    Jed’s voice cut immediately.
His eyes wandered across the sidewalks to realize that something’s actually inhabited this strange city. His heart stopped as he noticed this and Kagra saw his expression of fear. He closed his eyes tightly and gulped. Kagra panicked.

With their hover cycle’s, they passed a sign that had fallen onto the road.

On that sign was a great pool of blood. It was a heart stopping sight to them both.

“Jed, lets speed up, I want to get out of here" Kagra tried to say as calmly as she could.

    Jed didn’t answer.
    He was to concentrated.

    “Jed!” Kagra yelled.
“KAGRA! SHUT THE HELL UP!” Jed yelled completely furious.

    Kagra’s face turned dark red.

“SHUT UP?!” Kagra yelled “There’s nobody here!! how can I possibly draw attention--”

Out of nowhere, a silver shine of light snapped out of a corner.

Jed was ripped off his hover cycle and thrown across the gravel road with the silver light on him. Kagra almost ran him over with her hover cycle.

Jeds hover cycle spun horrifically and skidded into the side walks curve with a loud slam of steel.

Still ontop of Jed, the silver light, which came to be seen as a small looking robot with a small, four foot tall human shaped figure, with steel as a structure, yet not skeletal looking, attacked Jed with inhumanly punches. Jed blocked them quickly with great surprise.
Jed pushed the robot high into the air and kicked it in the abdomen looking part, denting it permanently.
With a quick and swift leg movement, he tossed the robot off of his foot and it landed on the gravel and roll over three times.

Kagra got off her hover cycle frantically and ran over to his aid.

“Jed are you alri-“ but Kagra couldn’t finish her sentence because of what she saw.

Hundreds, possibly thousands of silver robots were circled around them in sinister fighting stances. Every single one was ready to leap up and tear them to the bone in just a few, wrong steps.

Jed looked at them with awe as Kagra helped him to his feet.

    -
    -
    -
    -
    -
“well” Jed said after a hard stare at all of them, “I guess that’s what dad was trying to tell me when he said don’t draw attention”

    There was a long silence.
    Everything was dead
Nothing moved just as much as it breathed
The sound was horrific while the robot’s stared the two down
Jed knew he would lose if he fought them.
Dealing with one was overall easy, but to deal with thousands, was definitely an easy death.

The dead silence did end, however on a very clumsy and sad note. They knew what they had to do, even if they would die, they had no other choice. It was die without a fight, or die with one. This destroyed Jed’s insides until Kagra’s unrealistic enthusiasm spoke to him.

“Ok Jed” Kagra shadowed with a death smile, “on my jump”
Jed smiled at her attitude and almost laughed at it for how unrealistic it sounded. He spoke with a great smile.

    “Ready” Jed said.
    “Ready” Kagra said

In an extreme leap, Kagra and Jed attacked them head on, nevertheless, the robot’s did the same.

The robot’s punched, scratched, tore and kicked at them while the two tried to fend them off.

They pulled at Kagra’s hair, punched and kicked her face and screamed with glee as they did so.

Yet, despite the gruesomeness and the total disadvantage, Kagra still gave some pretty good shots at there little beings. She blocked, countered and nailed most of what she attacked. Many times, she found herself in odd fighting moves which ended up with the loss of many of the robot’s heads, arms, legs etc.
At one point, she punched one of them so hard in the face that it dented straight in like aluminum foil. She then finished it off with a quick kick to it’s neck swiping it’s head right off. The robot’s head spun slowly in the air and was kicked straight into the chest of another robot sending it flying back into the crowed.

Jed on the other hand was tripped, punched, kicked and scratched all at the same time.
As he stared up, fists and heels were pounding down on his head as each one shook harder then the last. He was completely helpless and he knew it was over. But that didn’t stop him.
He shot back onto his feet, jumped up to perform a front flip and crashed his heel down onto one of the robots head’s which exploded into the cement. Jed grabbed one of them by the arm, spun three times on his heels as fast as he could to launch it high into the air. Jed jumped up after it, seeing himself ten feet off the ground, grabbed the robot’s small legs and shot it towards the robots closing the fighting gap.
The robot’s were scattered quickly as they were pushed off there feet in different directions slamming into each other.
It almost looked like a bunch of dominoes tumbling over in an ugly mess.
Despite the happy outlook, as they already agreed, the duo were no match for the small robots.

The robot’s went deep into there attacks and pushed up against the two, to completely shatter there defenses, completing their improvements with a boost of speed.

“I cant do it!!” Kagra yelled as she failed to keep up with them.

Every few seconds, she would receive hard blows to the face making blood split out of her face.

JED! Kagra screamed as she was tripped by a robot
    ------

The silence swept over, slow motion came into play as the rising climax came to a destructive end.

Her eye’s widened with fear as she saw a punch slowly come at her face. It drew closer and closer to the middle of her eyes. Her heart thumped with pain and fear.
She closed her eye’s tightly now and received the blow right in the middle of her eyebrows and upper nose. Her head slammed against the cement knocking her out and Jed’s screams echoed her name.

    KAGRA!!!! Jed screamed KAGRA, KAGRAA!!!!!

However, all was not good for Jed either.
He received a hard kick to the abdomen making his eyes lifeless and wide. Saliva and blood flowed out of his mouth equally making it terrible to see, for you could feel his pain. He fell onto his knees, clutching his stomach as the blow was to much. However, he was not spared. A second robot brought its foot up under Jeds chin making his neck snap back inhumanly as more blood and saliva whipped out of his mouth. His eye’s were stone cold as he was barley conscious from that final blow he would remember.

His head crashed on the pavement behind him as his eye’s trailed deep into a fading trance. Everything seemed to have froze. His thoughts raced through his mind by now as he pitied himself. A sole, unconcious tear rolled out of his eye...his eyes stared into nowhere.

    "I-I.....failed" Jed mumbled.
The tear, which had now reached his cheek, grew thicker and became a stream of tears. He was a failure...he was worthless...

The strong sun of the day faded out. It's beauty and it's passion went into a depression when the clouds in the sky grew thick.
the drops of hell fell to the grounds, quickly but ever so silently... It was a death to be remembered... a death without accomplishment... a death without self meaning.

The stream of tears that rolled down his face kept flowing. His body was shaking now. He was devastated by this loss... completely devastated. He could sense Kagra's lifeless body near him. He could almost touch it but what good would it have done? really.....

He thought he must have been dreaming by now because threw his last eye cracks, he saw a man holding up an odd light with long, odd robes. And the man spoke.

“Umi dakura!” Yelled a raspy voice in the wind and a blinding white light filled the area repelling the robots as it seemed to be.
  • HFL saga episode 4

Jed laid on the ground. He was spread out like a dead bird which looked like it had fallen hundreds of feet from the sky. He was a bloody mess.

However the upside was, they were free from those robots, and the man who had driven them away, was still not clearly visible. Jed didn’t feel all that safe just yet so he tried to open his eyes but the effort cost him. He began to cough roughly. Blood trailed out of the corners of his mouth. He took a deep breath gasping for a regain of consciousness but it was no good. Jed fell back and a total darkness swept over him.

The sound of a light clock was now ticking softly somewhere nearby. It was quite soothing and it kept fadding in and out of his consciousness. Some sort of light tapping was also heard, but a few feet away from the ticking of the clock.
Something was very warm and soft underneath him and something was pulled over him which kept him warm.
Jed opened his eye’s a little to see around what there was.
With his observation, he came to realize he was in a dimly lit room. The soft ticking was a very old and small alarm clock invented centuries ago and the light tapping was rain falling on a window.
Jed tried to pull himself up but it pained him unbearably to do so. Instead, he chose to close his eye’s again and wait for the rain and the clock to put him back to sleep.

There was a sudden ruffling on his bed many hours later, where he was disturbed and awoken.

“Get up Jed, Jed!” Said an extremely familiar voice yet somehow annoying.

Jed took a small peek with his dark green-hazel eye’s to confirm the obvious person on his bed. Once he had done that, he pulled his sheets high over his head and fell silent.

“Oh no no Jed” Kagra’s voice said angrily “you have been sleeping for over three days, It’s time for you to get up”
Kagra ripped the covers away from his bed exposing Jed to the cold and he moaned babyishly. Kagra slapped her hand down on his forehead to take his temperature and Jed shooed her hand away.

“That was quiet the battle” came an old, raspy and unfamiliar voice “never seen anyone survive the E.G.G., yet alone participate actively in a battle with them.

Jed, after a few moments of struggling, sat himself up and realized he had a large cast on his forearm. Kagra noticed this and laughed as she spoke
“I’ll sign it if you give me something to write with” Kagra mocked.

“I wouldn’t agitate that if I were you” the raspy voice said “it is a nasty wound.”

Jed now narrowed his eye’s carefully to examine the blur which was the unknown figure.

An old man about age of 80 was holding himself up with a bamboo looking cane.
He had white hair and a long, tangled white beard.
He wasn’t tall but was probably on the boarder line of tall. He wore a yellow shirt with long pants which didn’t really match at all. On his feet were roman looking sandals. That’s about it.

“who are you?” Jed spoke quietly, yet not on purpose.

“well, I was hoping you might ask that; I’m the one they call Karn” Karn said “Im a good friend of your step father.”

“So you’re the one that owns the mountain kar?” Jed asked

“No im not” Karn said laughing “I have 2 other brothers, The one your dad is talking about is Kar, he’s the second in line. My oldest one is called Ka, so now you know.”

Kagra was suddenly going threw Jed’s knapsack for no specific reason. His eyes set onto her back then he stared back at Karn.

“We all live in the mountains of Ra” Karn mentioned “the one your trying to find lives in upper Ra, that means that he’s in the snow capped mountain, it’s the one with the golden symbol, Kar.”

“Question” Jed asked “how did you get all those umm, E.G.G, off of me?”

“That’s a long question, by the looks of your eyes, your going to fall asleep in a few minutes so ill let you rest” Karn said “don’t worry, ill tell u in a bit.”

“But he’s been sleeping for three days!” Kagra exclaimed

Karn gave a weak smile and spoke.
“He’s going to sleep naturally” Karn said “he needs it, he got hit pretty hard”

Karn walked out of the room and close the shutter door behind him.

    Kagra sat on Jed’s bed.

“You’ve got a nasty wound on you arm eh, I saw it” Kagra snapped.

“what happened to your face” Jed said staring at large bump on her forehead.
“You saw the whole thing didn’t you?” Kagra snapped again “why would you ask me that?”.
“Plus, we both know that you’re a big wuss that you need to rest again while the fact remains I got beat up harder”

Jed laughed a bit but fell back onto his pillow.

“You should see this place, Jed, it’s really something” Kagra said tempting him to get up “ill be out there if you need me.”

When Kagra left the room, Jed grew sleepy. He gave a soft yawn which watered his eye’s and he shut them slowly. He opened them again and stared up at the ceiling with a small grin. The grin began to fade quickly as his mouth opened and he was sound asleep again.

The rain began to pick up again and the wind outside was loud and violent. Being up in a mountain didn’t exactly pinpoint security, but it was so much better then being unconscious in that weather back down on the street. That is, if they wernt far from where they last were. In fact, Jed suspected they were hundreds of miles away from where they were.
The rain began to pound hard now with the winds whipping it around quickly.

After a few hours of sleep, Jed got out of his bed and walked to the door's shutters, opened them, and walked out closing them behind him.

A soft melody of some sort was playing fitting perfectly as he curiously gazed around. The place he saw in front of him was really old fashioned though. It was designed as an old Japanese house hold from a design taken in the 1600.
Jed had only seen these types of designs in history books at his school. Now he was in one.
He gazed at the walls which were liquored in a rich, dark oak. Old japanese designs where whipped across the walls with gold and silver, giving the house a rich look and feel. The walls where dark. The furniture was quite modern actually and the windows were in the shapes of cool-breath rectangles.
Jed walked up to one of these window's to notice a hot spring with temporary snow around it. Rocks towered up around it with bamboo shoots aiming high in the sky and growing between the rocks. High up, the sky was dark and cloudy, which meant it was nighttime.

Jed stumbled around to finally find where Kagra and Karn were. They weren’t doing anything really, mostly talking, but when Jed walking in, they both looked at him. Jed, feeling awkward with the staring, walked up to them.

“Good evening Jed” Karn said with a smile on his face.

Jed head felt light by now. He wasnt acustumed to waking up in the night just before his actually bedtime.

“Good evening” Jed said feeling weird when saying good evening.

“Well sit down” Kagra said frankly.
Jed took a chair from the table and sat down.

“You haven’t eaten yet” Karn mentioned “do you want something?”
“No im not hungry” Jed mumbled.
“no really Jed, eat something, you’ve been out for three days without any water or food in your system, plus, the chicken he makes it great” Kagra said.

“alright but just a bit” Jed said.
    “sure” Karn said.

The chicken was sautéed, spiced and flavored in a pan before setting it down in front of Jed to eat.

“Here we go” Karn said and he placed the chicken on the table. It also had a few side dishes such as curious vegetables, a bowl of rice and a glass of unknown taste.

While Jed ate, Karn brought up the answer to a question Jed had asked earlier before he had fallen asleep.

-When Karn spoke, most people would stop and listen even if he was homeless. His wisdom and choice of “voice” was so unique you wouldn’t be surprised if someone told you he knew the world inside out.
Kagra had a lot of respect for him and Jed had a growing one, even if they had seen each other for less then thirty minutes, really.
When he began his speech, Jed stopped eating but Karn beckoned him to continue.

“My brothers and I are all talented in something different, i'll just start there because i really dont know how to open this conversation: For instance I’m talented in mechanics, my brother kar is talented in books and facts and for my older brother ka, he’s talented in, well, that’s for you to discover” Karn said with a smile,
“My older brother is very stubborn though, he doesn’t give in easily-

“Wait, sorry to cut you off but you’re a mechanic right? Jed said “So, umm, where is your garage? Speaking of mechanics, did our hover cycles come out ok?”

Kagra gave jed a light punch on the arm

“Your so rude Jed!” Kagra exclaimed “why would you cut off such an “interesting trail of though” this man was on?!” “you ask questions after”
“But ill forget the question” jed mumbled childishly

“No no, it’s ok, it probably is a big concern because those hover cycles were pretty expensive” Karn said “to answer that, there fine, pretty damaged but nothing I’ve never handled.

“how did you produce the white light” Jed asked.

    JED! Kagra yelled

“well” karn said “I also now a bit of family magic.”

Kagra rose her head at the words “family magic”

    “Family magic?” Kagra said surprised

Karn gave a sinister looking light smile, but the smile looked more greedy then sinister, not in a bad way though.

“Family magic is something me and my brothers used to entertain ourselves” karn said, “they’ve probably forgotten how to do it but as for me, I liked studying into that, in other words, family magic is a magic produced by your spirit.

“Sorry but, I don’t believe in magic” Jed said frankly.

“oh my dear visitor, if you don’t believe in magic, then you wont see the world in better colors” Karn said with a sad looking expression

“However, this is not something you should learn” Karn said, “but its also extremely rare; I think my brothers and I are the last known survivors to contain family magic; also, if the question you’re asking in your head can be answered with my next question, the answer is I can’t teach you family magic because I simply don’t know how to teach you.

Kagra and jed seemed surprised at that last quota but didn’t speak and let Karn go on.

“Everyone has there own talents as I said, for instance, Kagra told me about you and those sacred letters you’re trying to find” Karn said

Kagra gave a guilty smile at jed seeing that it might not have been ok to tell Karn about there journey, even if Karn was trustworthy.

“that’s all the information I can give you about myself in a secret nutshell” karn said “but I must tempt you since I am like this. I know how we will die, I know who will do it and I know how”

Jed puzzled and spoke with the only answer he knew.

We’ll, I’m guessing another loyalist up rise? Jed said

    Karn smiled

“ah, I cant tell you because ill jinx’s the outcome of the world for real” Karn said

-and as much as jed knew, everything was to be so unexpected that you would have to awe for how much you were wrong. And this little fact is going to hurt many of them, all the way to there deaths…. .

    Hot spring:

Kagra and jed sat quietly in the soothing pool of natural hot water, which was the hot spring jed had seen the first time he snooped briefly around the house.

It was actually quite more relaxing and soothing during the day time then at night. Jed took a quick look around to notice many things he hadn’t noticed the last time he peeked at the pool. Not only did it have random bamboo trees shooting up high in the air from the rocks, but an entire striving bamboo forest was situated at the invisible end of the pool (where the window couldn’t capture). There was also a high, thin waterfall that sprinkled down into the pool from cliffs high above.
The thing about the water in the pool/basin was that it wasn’t see threw, but rather very dark and hard to see your hands let alone your feet.

Kagra tilted her head back on the rock and let out three or four sighs of relief. The last sigh suddenly became a gasp for air then a blood gurgling scream.
Kagra lashed out of the water and high into the rocks as she screamed in bewilderment.
Jed was furious and looking about quickly at what had scared her so badly. After a few seconds of panic and fear, jed had a wide smile on his face.
Kagra on the other hand, had a face of awe and surprise.

Two small Chinese mountain monkeys were poking there heads out of the water with an awkward look for they too had been startled. The looked right into kagra’s eye’s and then quickly jumped out in fear for Jed had tried to approach them. The jumped up into the rocks and away into the bamboo forest with there screams echoing threw it.

Kagra slipped back into to warm basin knowing that Jed was to criticize her as soon as she relaxed herself.

“They were just monkeys-” jed began but kagra silenced him with a violent, air cutting “shut it!”

    Night:

Jed was ready for bed. He was in his boxers with a plain white shirt but he had his arms crossed since he was shivering.
The old house was very cold at night. The heating was bad and the nightly wind was ice chilly. Jed couldn’t bare to imagine the weather in the winter.
Jed found Karn at the fireplace with a thick book in his hands. It had useless writing in it since jed couldn’t really understand what was written.

    “Karn” jed said quietly

Karn turned his head in a listening way and set his book down momentarily.

“in school” Jed began, “we talk about the war’s during the past and the myths of what actually happened in them. But nobody truly knows what the really story is because there is no proven written data about it, even when it happened sixty years ago. You said something about magic and something like that, and theres a myth that there were eight great people who had some inhumanly abilities. But that theory was proven wrong by the influential science and technology which is ruling society today. So I’m asking you the question, would you know anything about that old myth?

Karn began to laugh. It was a pleasant laugh which seemed to mock Jed a lot. He laughed hysterically with his face turning red because he was laughing so hard. Karn began to cough though, his age was not one where you could laugh like you use to. He calmed himself down but spoke immediately

“Eight guardians eh?!” Karn said “And you visitor, one who doesn’t believe in magic, brings the question up about a myth where the planet earth, now called techno science, has taught the finest kids to believe what they can prove? It’s another religion!”

Karn saw Jed was smiling, but saw the fake smile behind it and immediately came to his senses.
“you don’t have to play the smile game with me” Karn said “when your old, your know your not funny”.

Karn took a short breath and spoke.

“Well” karn said “I guess you’ll find out sooner or later, has Suki already spoken to you about them?

    “Yes” jed said.

Karn laughed again but only for a few seconds.

“My second brother is better then me with those types of questions but simply put” karn said now with a growing coldness and darkness in his voice, yet mixed with passion and pride for the next sentence, “my oldest brother is one of the eight”
  • HFL saga episode 5

Karn was terribly nice to Jed and Kagra. Every time he did something, he always had a great big smile because nothing truly seemed to upset him.

He seemed to know many things about this world but kept it all to himself unless you asked him a question. Yet, despite that, he did speak what he though people should know, especially when most of the time he new about the topic.
I cannot emphasize enough the importance of how wise he was either.

Though, something’s he mentioned were best to be kept to himself. That was what makes the difference between his wise self and the foolish speech.

Behind the warm fire, cool burning crack and puffy slippers under the dark shadow of the black sky, Karn said something to Jed that he thought he would never get an answer for. But as Karn is, he always answers even though it is not best to answer.

“Your brother is a guardian?” Kagra said flatly.

“yes he is” Karn said “I guess now you know that there’s a guardian here on the planet earth, not every guardian disappeared from the earth completely.”

“You mean to say there’s more that live on the earth?” Jed said quickly.

“oh no” Karn said calmly “I wouldn’t know that but I could tell you with experience from my brother that there probably is one or two guardians that still live on earth. Putting aside my brother of course. Earth is there home you know.”

“But in the history books” Jed said “the history book said they disappeared with out a trace.”

“True” Karn said “but that’s not it is it. The books say that because the media said they disappeared, but you should never take the medias advice, there usually wrong these days. Look for instance at my brother. He lives here doesn’t he.

“but there are even videos, pictures, everything you could possibly imagine to prove that they disappeared" Jed said.

“oh sorry, I spoke to fast” Karn said “maybe you did quite understand. Techno earth is defiantly one to believe in. the techno earth is dead, corrupt and ugly. Nothing is right and they are hiding everything from you with a great big camera. How could smart children be brainwashed so easily…..”

There was a longish pause. It lasted a while but it wasn’t all that awkward because Jed spoke at the proper time.

“Your brother a guardian, eh?” Jed said “so that defiantly means that he knows HFL.

“Oh dear, yes” Karn said “he would love to teach students again but as i said, he’s not easy to get, trust me on this one.” “alright Jed, I’m going to go lay down, it’s very late. Think about your new questions later and ask me. I know they are bubbling inside you.

Many hours later, Jed woke kagra up from her sleep. She was defiantly not happy about this and showed it with her killer stare. Ready to take Jed to the ground, she let it out in a sour and scary “what the hell do you want?!”

Jed explained what he learned to Kagra and Kagra became furious and almost deliriously shouting her sentences.

“HFL!” Kagra yelled in a harsh whisper “my god Jed! Do you know what that means!! Do you clearly know what he just said?!”

Kagra’s was now on her knees and moving her bed up and down with excitement. She had never been this thrilled to hear anything in her life then at this moment. It was like being sleep deprived was now a good thing.

“Jed!” Kagra exclaimed “we could become famous! We could make billions of dollars by reviling that simple secret!”

“and bring the automatic end to the world” Jed said quietly

“Ok, let me just remind you what HFL is Jed incase you happen to have forgotten” kagra exclaimed.

“a very scary discovery” Jed muttered

“no! Kagra yelled “HFL is from the high skies! its what won us the war! It’s what was hidden away for fear of another human uprising! It’s so-“ but Kagra stopped herself.

There were loud footsteps making there way towards Kagra’s room and she pushed Jed off her bed. Jed hit the ground hard and looked up in bewilderment since he didn’t quite know what had happened.

“do you want a nice wise old man to keep talking to us?” Kagra said “then hide yourself and shut up”

The darkness in Kagra’s room came to life in a growing of color. A lantern entered her room and Karn stood there with a look of stress and shock on his face.
He frantically looked around and then spoke quickly

“Where is that screaming coming from?!” Karn asked with fear in his voice

Kagra faked her awakening by making it sound like she had been waken up after a long sleep. She looked over at Karn with droopy eye’s and simply stared at him.

He took a quick glance around the room and then bowed.
He apologized for his behavior after seeming he must have been hallucinating.

Karn put his head down and walked out of the room.

Once it was safe, Jed crept out from his clumsy hiding place and Kagra immediately spoke.

“As confusing and as interesting as this sound, your going to go back to your room and sleep, we’ll talk in the morning ok.”

    Morning:

Breakfast was served early that morning. Everyone seemed to have gotten sick over night due to the very poor heating. There voices were rough and terrible but they still managed a hefty conversation.

“It shouldn’t be taught anymore” Karn said seeming a ways into a conversation “with the HFL back in play, it could fall into sick minded hands; The loyalist have been searching for this for ages. The secret in HFL use should be hidden, it only causes harm. With this power you could grow greedy for it, that’s why I forgot how to use HFL and took up family magic to defend myself, I made up my own spells.”

“I don’t understand why good people would turn into bad people with a bit of HFL” Kagra said.

“I know I should have never mentioned this to you but once you start you’d better finish” Karn said “greed was the downfall in any race in the universe, when people started requiring HFL during the war, they either died because there body couldn’t contain that much HFL or they started getting ideas like killing people and rule the world. My point is that HFL triggers something in your head that gives you ideas that you never thought of, that’s why I didn’t want anyone to know about this but it’s a sort of malfunction I have to talk about things I shouldn’t talk about.

“Trust me” Kagra said “we’d never tell this to anyone.”

“Humans are not born to be good. We don’t need any forgiveness from sin because we were born with sin. If temptation was our downfall, wasn’t sin already in play. Temptation is a human quality is it not? That is why HFL is such a threat to our existence. Temptation has cursed us for eternity. There’s no good in anything. Not even in you, Jed, your dad or me. There’s not even any good in god for he knew the differences between good and evil.”

Jed and Kagra seemed disappointed at Karn’s statement but Karn covered himself well.

“Just one more thing I have to add” Karn said “as much as I don’t want you to acquire HFL, I want you to get it because I can feel an uprising in the loyalist empire, especially you Jed, because you have a very strong mind and you would easily over come the HFL mind control. As for you kagra, you have a strong mind but once you acquire it, be careful.”

    Hot Spring:

Kagra and Jed simply sat there. They didn’t look at each other or even say anything to each other. They were both in a state of shock and anger.
Simply, Karn had said too much.

Jed seemed to have trouble absorbing what he said. instead, his focus was on the cloudy, rain filled sky and the dark rippling waters he sat in which hugged his soul. Disregarding the usual comfort, it wasn’t very comfortable at all.
As for Kagra, she too seemed lost in her thoughts.

After a few minutes, Kagra got out and walked to the empty bath shed and changed.

Jed began to think about himself. He began to look for his purpose and meaning of his being. He wondered why he was sitting in these waters, why the sky was grey and many other odd questions which he had never really asked, even though his philosophy classes at school asked him those questions. On quizzes, he would usually answer these questions with “I don’t know” or “why would it matter, how does it change us”.

His thoughts deepened and he began to ask uglier questions which he didn’t truly believe he would ever question.
He began to question his journey. And conclude that it was a bad idea and he should simply give up and turn around. Yet, he still managed to keep his journey at bay and he decided to stop questioning what he shouldn’t question.

    House:

“I was just thinking of that” Jed said.

“I know you were” Karn said “don’t ask how; honestly I don’t know why that happened with your letters, I just want to tell you that I believe you should collect them again because it could reveal something important.”

“I know it will” Jed said

There was a short pause and Jed spoke again with a sort of sorrow in his voice.

“Kagra and I are going to head out tomorrow for your brother Kar’s mountain.”

“Well by all means come visit if ever you need something to deal with. Mechanics mostly” Karn said with a mild laugh.

Karn left the room. Everything sat still now as jed’s eye’s trailed onto the floorboard. It was very dark and hollow looking and the furniture’s shadows began to grow. Day became night again and there last day at the healthy house came to an end.

Jed sat on Kagra bed before going to bed and looked into her eye’s as she spoked with absolute truth.

“Jed” Kagra said “do you really want HFL after what he told you?”

Jed took in a long breath

“I won’t tell you yes or no because after what he told me about it, I’m not sure” Jed said “we’ll talk in the morning on our hover cycles.”

Jed opened the bedroom shutters, closed her light, walked out and made his way down towards his room.

Jed didn’t sleep well however. He found himself staring up at his ceiling for hours now.
He blinked now and then glazing his eyes.
His eye’s flashed a white light on them which was the reflection of the moonlight coming out of a small crack in his window. It illuminated half of his face but that didn’t distract him at all.
The dresser clock ticked and ticked at the same rhythm for minutes on as his sleep began to kick in.

    Eventually, he fell asleep.

    Last morning: departure morning

“Hows your arm this morning?” Karn asked.

    Jed looked at it.

    “its fine” Jed said.
“you had to look at it to know if it hurt or not” karn said laughing “Come, sit down you two karn said I made scrambled eggs.”

The morning sank threw and they found themselves fully dressed, bags in hand and great smiles on there faces.

Karn escorted them to the main door with a conversation on road safety and preventions to take before another accident like that happened.
Kagra was totally tuned out of the conversation because Karn didn’t seemed to be talking to both off them so she didn’t bother listening.
Karn opened the door for them.

Behind that very small door was a site of marvelous pride. A giant factory.

Jed and Kagra’s jaw dropped open at the sight of the factory.

Machines pounded away at metals and other materials as they circled around creating all sorts of different things. It was too much to take in all at once.

A floating robot in the shape of a silver ball appeared in front of Karn.

“Meet my friend guru” Karn said.

“Pleased to meet you” the little robot guru said.

Kagra and Jed were still to entranced to say anything normal so they simply stared pass the little robot.

“Well your hover cycles are over there” Karn said pointing and walking into the enormous factory.

Jed and kagra walked over to the new hover cycles with awe and bewilderment.

“I added an object scanner to yours Kagra since you’re the one who’s handy with this stuff.

“T-Thanks” Kagra said and she touched the scanner stupidly.

“Don’t be shy to visit” Karn said “I have much to show you!.
“my brother lives a ways away from here, you cant miss his mountain, the only one in the area with a giant golden ring and Kar written in it.

Karn gave a bow of respect. His grace and bow was so great and royal that Jed and Kagra snapped out of the childish daze and immediately gave a deep long bow of respect back.

    “thanks for everything” Jed said

Karn’s garage door opened and he urged them to mount there hovercycles.

“Common get out of here it’s getting cold” Karn exclaimed teasingly.

The two mounted there hover cycles, smiled greatly at Karn and thanked him many times until he got angry and ordered them out.

They ripped on there hover cycle motor and sped off into the cold fresh air leaving guru waving and Karn with a smile on his face.

“You be careful kid’s” Karn murmured and he closed his garage to slowly disappear behind it.

Kagra and Jed speed down the mountain road landing eventually back on the high way after a couple of twist and turns.

Kagra slowly looked behind her to see a giant mountain with a small red house on top of it. The mountain had a giant ring around it and was named mountain Karn inside the ring. The deep grey clouds formed high up in that old Japanese house. The wind picked up now and the air got colder and Kagra swore that the house hollered at them in a wood flute type of way.
The gust of wind picked up all sorts of tree leaves from the ground to swirl upwards

Kagra looked back in front of her, her eyes glowing like amber, and blasted off into the mountain highway joining Jed again on his journey to the complete unknown.
  • HFL saga episode 6

The two hover cycles blasted down the highway completely shattering the speed limit with nothing to tell them that there breaking law.

In this future, there is no such thing as you have to be 18 to drive.
In this future, the law is 12 to start driving because of the technology, new medical advances and the intelligence and control of humans.
In this future, light speed is an ancient discovery.
In this future, there are a lot of things that were imagined impossible which became scarily possible.

The icy wind tore at there faces. Ice began to grow under there noses for how cold it had become because of the speed they traveled at.
It was below zero for sure, yet not to far below zero. Just a bit under the freezing point.
On the hover cycle, it felt like below 40.
Kagra’s cheeks were blue and pale just like the cold blue sky above them. Winter had not actually come. It was just that they were so high up in the altitude that fall was now winter.
Every single pine tree they passed was covered in thick, fresh snow.
It was very clear also that with a negative temperature, the road would freeze up easily causing a hazardous condition of black ice.
Yet in this future, the positive outlook was that the hover cycles were purposely named “hover cycles” because they glided above the ground with no contact what so ever. This is due to the reversal of gravity, which in our present day, is not fully understood.

    “hey” Kagra said casually.
    “What is it?” Jed said.
“This scanner is really handy” Kagra said “it tells me everything that’s in this area. like I mean everything from small rocks to large trees or animals!”

“Well, do you see something that might interest me” Jed said boringly.

Kagra didn’t pay attention to what Jed had said.
They remained quiet for a while now. Kagra was fascinated by her gadget that when Jed repeated himself, she told him to shush because she was check something out.

After a while, Kagra spoke with a light tone which was almost unnoticeable that she had begun to talk.

“What do you say we give dad a call eventually?” Kagra said “its been a few days now.”
“You know something” Jed said “I thought you would have figured it out by now.” “Figure out what?” Kagra said.

“That Karn only came because the cameracule beeped so dad called him” jed said.

“What’s your point?” Kagra said I thought you would say something more interesting”

“I just thought you would have thought of that” Jed said.
“You know what” Kagra said changing the subject “Karn, I could bet you anything, is a better martial artist then you and I combined.”

“What made you say that?” Jed asked.
“I don’t know, I just thought it made sense to say that” Kagra said.
“Well alright” Jed said in a mild, almost unnoticeable confusion.

Something immediately flashed in Kagra’s eye’s and she peered down because that’s where it was coming from.
She looked at her scanner to notice a white object hovering unconsciously in the near distance. Her eye’s widened and she spoke quickly.

    “Jed pull over” Kagra yelled.
    “Why?” Jed said.
“Because I think I found a letter” Kagra said.

The two pulled over to the side of the road. Jed jumped off his hover cycle and looked at the scanner with wide eye’s.

There were thousands of objects on it, not only that but what seemed like purple stars were floating around the scanner. In the very middle almost perfect center, a small white dot was seen.

“I-I don’t sense the letter near that area though” Jed said.
“Well maybe you never did sense the letter” Kagra said “anyway, were going to check it out. The faster were out of these cold mountains the better.”

“Fine” Jed said “but im telling you there’s nothing!”

“Put these on, its freezing” Kagra said.
she took Jed’s bag, opened it and took out two coats.

One was a long pink coat with white fox hair as thin as needle. It was placed on the hood rims and flowed neatly along the strong wind current which blew the air in a deep frost.

The other one was a long blue coat with the same foxy material looking hair at the hood and the ends off the coat (meaning the arms of the coat). However, the material was very different from that on the hood. It was pure white sheep wool.

They both slipped there coats on and Kagra jumped off her hover cycle and took a huge sprint into the forest. Jed, who was still dumbstruck, stared as she disappeared in the forest. He because traced in his instinct and took a sprint into the forest after her.

As Kagra ran, she noticed a very small yet very bright purple light.

“Whoa” Kagra exclaimed “what is that?”

Kagra got close to it and touched it but nothing happened. her hand passed threw it because it actually was nothing but light. She looked around to see where it could be coming from but her attention turned to Jed who approached her.
He seemed tired from the run because the snow was very deep and it wasn’t friendly on the shoes he was wearing, even if they were cold and waterproof. The snow still entered because it went threw his socks, which were most defiantly not waterproof.

“Jed look, I’ve never seen anything like this” Kagra said passing her hand threw it as a demonstration.

“Fascinating” Jed said boringly “its probably a distraction, this forest is probably booby trapped, basically, I’m guessing that purple thing is a hollow gram.

“Projected from where?” Kagra said curiously “I don’t see a projector.”
“Its probably well hidden” Jed said “anyway were should get out of here.”

    “Why?!” Kagra exclaimed.
“Because, that white light is only a hollow gram” Jed said.
“How do you know that for sure?” Kagra said “we came here because I seriously have a huge feeling about this!”

Jed had an annoyed face but remained calm.
“I don’t sense the letter. Trust me that’s not it” Jed said.
“But shouldn’t we check it out?” Kagra said.
“No” jed said smoothly and he began his walk back towards there hover cycles which were unattended.

    “Common Kagra” Jed said

Kagra took an immediate run and ignored Jed when she passed him. her face was bright red for she was humiliated and sad.
Jed didn’t say anything to apologize for his constant negative attitude because he simply didn’t care.
In a matter of minutes, they found there way back to the main highway where there hover cycles were like they were when they had left them. Kagra hopped on her hover cycle, still with a flaming face of rage, and she started her motor.
She had just began to speed up to blast off, but Jed yelled at her to stop.
She glanced over her shoulder with a bored expression since she was still angry at him.
    Jed spoke

The knapsack, where is the knapsack?! Jed exclaimed. Kagra began to panic as she began cursing harshly.
“WHAT THE HELL?!” Kagra screamed “my entire life is packed in that bag!”

Jed thought for a few seconds and then got an idea
“check your scanner and see if you can locate the bag” jed said quickly
Kagra immediately browsed on it with ferocity. She dragged her finger over it again and again changing the map around and zooming in on it.
She ripped the engine on the Hover cycle and spun it around. She took a great roar at it and exploded into the forest. Her eye’s were bleeding red by now because when she said “her life was in that bag” she ment it (cosmetics, community card, Jed’s rock, a lot of paper work and mapping and many important things you wouldn’t find in a regular bag such as passports, license rights, ID ect).

Jed caught up to her with pine branches exploding everywhere as the went threw it. They had something called a force field protector around there cycles which prevented anything from coming into the perfected sphere as much as out of the sphere.
The branches flew around like ash except sometimes huge bark fell instead of small sticks. Or, the giant clouds of bark ash.

“This is so bad” Jed said quietly for there bubbles were connected “if we get caught for taking the forest down like this, were in so much trouble”

Kagra didn’t pay attention to him. she actually sped up on her hover cycle and nailed a huge branch which flew into Jed’s view and was tossed aside like a paper plate.

Jed saw ahead of him the thing that was now holding the knapsack. It was a huge metal robot which seemed to enjoy a stroll threw the snow. It didn’t notice them coming because it seemed disabled.
Yet, it held the bag perfectly in it’s huge mechanical hand.

When they were close enough to jump at it, they put there hover cycles on auto park (a device used only when slowing down into your parking space to park automatically for you) and took a giant jump.

The air was so freakily silent for how sinisterly they crept up behind the robot.

There coats fluttered in the wind while there arms were outstretched as if to claw the robot to shreds, but instead, they prepared for a well organized attack.
Kagra and Jed, with amazing synchronization, spun around once to bring there legs up to there opposite shoulders with a heel slash in mind.

Two legs slashed down at the robot’s head at different times, each with a different effect.

Jed’s leg was used to slash the robot’s head off cleanly which he did. Sparks exploded immediately as the metal head was detached.

Kagra’s leg was used to kick the head away so that it wouldn’t reattach itself.
The head went off into the forest to disappear. Bird’s exploded from the trees in fear and anxiety for the sound of it hitting a random tree made them fly away.

The two had there last positions in the air which was a floating axel.
To land, the finished there kick spins, pushed of each others foot to back flip and land.

    Kagra crossed her arms

“I think that was a little too easy” Kagra said “I doubt robot’s are that delinquent nowadays”

Jed looked around and suddenly dived for the snow dodging a sudden beam of red light. The beam went flying into the sky to disappear.
A second beam flew threw the air, this time at Kagra.
Kagra tilted her head to the side with little expression as the beam passed inches from her face. her hair whipped around crazily with the wind of the beam but she remained in place.
Kagra looked to the corners of her eye’s to see many small mechanical toys sticking out of the ground which were the sources of the lasers.
Kagra uncrossed her arms and dodged a second one, but she wasn’t so lucky this time.
She pushed herself backwards to revive a blow into the heart. It passed right threw her as she seemed to be struggling in the air.
Jed’s eye’s widened in disbelief as a tear rolled out of his eye’s.
His eye’s were so shockingly wide that there were red veins popping by now. his eye’s shook violently as he watched.
    “n-no” Jed said quietly.

Jed examined her carefully as she went backwards to realise her hand was missing in one of her coat sleeves.
The hand, which had mysteriously disappeared for a few seconds, shot out of the coat exposing Kagra’s regular clothing.
Jed smiled with surprise and got up immediately.
Kagra tossed her coat away as it was eaten up by the lasers.

“don’t move!” jed yelled at kagra “I think there movement sensitive”

“I already figured that one out” kagra said coldly
“fine then, do what you think” Jed said

Almost immediately after Jed said that, he jumped high into the air with many flips. The laser’s shot at him quickly as he dodged them with weird flips.
Kagra, who was watching carefully, took a quick dive at her hover cycle. The force field had gone away due to the auto park so it was easy to access it. the lasers began to aim at her now as she sat on her hover cycle. She panicked as she failed to find the force field button on her hover cycle. The lasers came up to her and in a matter of half a second, the lasers exploded.
There was a large cloud of smoke by now.

Jed, who was still in the air, saw this but didn’t panic all that much. Instead, he made his way across the trees to jump down towards his hover cycle. He spun as he flew down like a pure bullet to flip at the last second and sit on his hover cycle.

Kagra exploded out of the cloud of smoke

Her hover cycle was speaking to her in a very plain voice.

“Critical malfunction, force field must resign” it said

Kagra was furious now as she had a shocked expression but continued anyways.

The two roared out of the forest

“We almost died” Kagra barked viciously

“Is anyone dead?” Jed said “no, so lets carry on with what we were doing before this happened. its all your fault anyways”

Kagra pulse on her forehead was now showing.
“WE ALMOST GOT KILLED” she yelled as loud as she could sticking her face in his face.

Jed pretended to pay no attention.

After an angry second, Kagra spoke

“You know what” Kagra said calmly “never mind, your to hard headed anyways. Think your super cool eh? Super tough Jed? Well guess what, you’ll die if you keep at this super ego of yours. Believe it”

The forest behind them became nothing but a mere wrong turn because what was to happen next was not to be that easy……..……
  • HFL Saga Episode 7

As the two blasted threw the mountain road, Kagra kept staring at her coat which had a large hole in it because of the laser that pierced threw it just under an hour ago.

She was putting her finger threw it and pulling at the treads occasionally for no specific reason.
Jed would glance at the hole in her coat occasionally also.

“You should leave it alone” Jed said “its just making the hole bigger.”

Kagra finally left it alone and concentrated on the road ahead of her.

“Say something, you haven’t really said anything for an hour” kagra said.

Jed looked at Kagra who smiled. Jed gave a smirk and looked back at the road

“here Jed, why don’t you open up on your thoughts in that forest” Kagra said pushingly

    “there not important” Jed said
“do you see us doing anything important right now?” Kagra asked
    “no” Jed mumbled
    “then say it” Kagra said

Jed took a few breaths in and spoke quietly and in a state of sorrow.

“it’s just that” Jed began but he stopped
Kagra didn’t ask him to continue because she could already guess what he wanted to say.

“the fact that I couldn’t dodge that laser?” Kagra said quietly “are you scared that I’ll get killed and you’ll be blamed for my own reflex?”

Jed didn’t speak. He simply stared out to let a large amount of air out. Since it was cold, the air that came out was visible.

“look” Kagra said “you cant expect me to not get myself into greater dangers because that will defiantly happen. I will get shot at, beaten and all sorts of other difficulties. But I wont die. I think I have a little more motivation then that.”

“that’s the thing” Jed said quietly
“no” Kagra said “first off, have you ever seen anyone dodge a laser that fast? I doubt it. I can guarantee you haven’t”

Kagra looked over at Jed but his eye’s were in front of him.
Kagra looked back in front of her and sighed slightly.

“well, to change to positive” Kagra said “we have to get to the pit stop and call dad”

“Kagra, I have to tell you something” Jed said

Kagra’s excitement grew since she believed Jed might continue talking about the experience in the forest, but he didn’t.

    “The camera cule” Jed began
“What about it” kagra cut in.

“When you dodged that blast, I think I saw the camera, its big enough to notice” Jed said “but it was destroyed by the laser, that’s why I am actually more worried, because dad is probably worried sick, so now you know why I am like this.”

“Why didn’t you tell me that before?!” Kagra yelled “knowing dad, he must think we stepped on a mine or something, he must be worried sick!”

“I know so let’s hurry” jed said “I……….
    Jed paused.
Kagra looked over to see he was nervous about the next thing he was about to say.

“Jed he wont” Kagra said with a lie behind her voice

“yes he will” Jed said “he’s going to send us back home.”

    --------

Kagra looked at her scanner to look for a pit stop. To her horror, there was none in sight for miles on end.
Jed couldn’t help think about the horror if Mr. Suki sent them home because he found the mission to life risking, even though it was.
They were stepping into the real world which is a dark and mysterious place in this future.
People lock there door with a trespassing utility(it shoots anyone that steps near the door that is unknown to the camera) and the have a sleep gun under there pillows at night.

Mr. Suki knew all this, but knowing him, he would have Kagra and Jed sent home right away.
Jed couldn’t afford this and had trouble thinking of an excuse.
Kagra seemed to not care much because she never wanted to come along in the first place. Yet for once, Jed realised that she cared as much as he did.
Even if her summer was to be wasted on this journey, and a few days of school in the fall, she still came because it ment a lot more then just a teenage life. It ment helping out Jed, who was defiantly a confused and lonely individual, longing for someone. Despite the fact that he would never admit that.
Plus, Jed knew Kagra never did something without finishing so he wasn’t worried about her being sent home without a fight.

In Jed’s dark, he pretended he didn’t want kagra with him, deep down in that dark, she’s the one that he need’s to keep going. Somebody…..

    --------
“Ah!” Kagra exclaimed “I found the pit stop, the cut off should be right around here”

Kagra looked up to see Japanese symbols floating in the air which read “pit stop turn off”

They both turned there and drove down the road.
The road was quite narrow as it turned in a circle around a mountain.
It looked very easy to fall off since the ledges were not greatly guarded by anything solid. it was a long turn, but after a few runs around a mountain Cliffside, the pit stop arrived in sight.
This was a weird pit stop because it was on a pale gravel.
It seemed to float in the air because the path that took them out to the pit stop looked as if to be supporting the entire structure.
The stop itself wasn’t shabby looking, but it needed an improvement. Not on the architecture (which was very nice and modern looking) but the base it sat on.
It was simply a round, flat grey circle.
The pit stop also seemed darker because of the foggy sky above and the clouds below.
The clouds were scary since you could only find them when you looked down.

Thus, this ment they were very high up in altitude even thought at the bottom of these mountains was a dry desert. Yet these mountains stretched far above the clouds.

Kagra stopped at the barrier of the pit stop parking and peered down.

“Whoa” kagra said “I wouldn’t want to fall down there”

There were almost no cars or any sort of transportation in the parking lot.
There were only about 6 or seven vehicles including Jed and Kagra’s hover cycles.

Inside the pit stop, there were giant fake pine trees with fake snow sprinkled on them. there were also ski’s, snow & air boards and other mountain sport equipments for sale in a souvenir store on the left hand side of the compound.

The receptionist desk was on a red carpet that led from the door to it.

Kagra and Jed walked up to it and the receptionist smiled greatly.
“Do you know were the phones are?” Kagra asked.

“Yes there over there” the receptionist said pointing in the direction the phones were in. “thanks” kagra said and she and Jed walked over to it.

Kagra pulled out the silver card from her pocket and slipped it into the card slot before the machine had time to say, “please insert your community card”

“Thank you please hold” the box said

    -----
Kagra had an anxious look on her face going the same for Jed.
    -----

The dial on the phone box kept going. One time. two time. three time.
It lasted five rings before something happened

A white light filled up the screen and Mr .Suki’s face appeared.
It was as if the world had stopped moving. Jed’s heart began to throb painfully since he knew what was coming.
Kagra on the other hand, waited for Mr. Suki to say something but he remain quite and had a disappointed face.

    “Dad” kagra said.

“I thought I could trust that you wouldn’t get into any trouble” Mr. Suki said “but what a foolish thought I had, what can I expect from a couple of teenagers, Kagra, I am very disappointed in you”

“Its not her fault” Jed said “It was my idea to get my knapsack even though I knew that was going to happen”

“I am sending you home Kagra, this is to dangerous” Mr. Suki said ignoring Jed’s comment “as for you Jed, do as you please but knowing you I wouldn’t be able to send you home, its your destiny to find those letters. Kagra get your stuff and be at the teleportation booth”

    Kagra didn’t move.
She seemed to be trying to figure out what to say to him.

“Kagra” Mr. Suki said raising his voice a little.

    ----
“No dad I’m not going” Kagra finally said im staying with jed to finnish what I said I would finnish.

    -----------

“This is not an option” Mr. Suki said “if you don’t get to the booth, ill call security.

“Well dad I’m not going home” Kagra said.

    “Kagra” Jed said.
“listen dad, I’m not some little girl who cant decide for herself Kagra said I’m 17!

    Mr. Suki looked at Kagra.

“Look” Mr. Suki said “I don’t want you to get hurt, all my life I’ve been protecting you two from the treachery of the world and now you think you can take it on?”

“Mr. Suki” Jed said for the first time in his life “you know that I need her on this mission”

Kagra looked at jed with a warm smile.

“You really mean that” Kagra said.

“my point is that there’s no way you can send her home Jed said “she the only person I’ve got”

Mr. Suki’s temper rose. He was staring fiercely and the spoke coldly.

“you don’t know this world one bit. What you are to find out is nothing but hatred towards everyone. That includes me and everyone you’ll meet. You’ll be so confused and sad that you’ll just kill yourself. Do you want that? answer that question because no matter what I do, even if I call security, I cant stop you anymore”

Jed didn’t answer. Kagra looked at him with a horrible face and spoke

“ill call you, but you cannot interfere do we understand each other?” Kagra said quietly

Mr. Suki was humiliated by the attitude of his daughter and he stared her down but spoke calmly while doing so.

“you know I will always interfere daughter” Mr. Suki said “maybe your nice school life is non of my business but your real life is defiantly a part. You best call me if you really don’t…”

Mr. Suki went silent. He had a face of sorrow by now and he finished his sentence.

“just be careful” Mr. Suki said
Before they could answer, he closed the window for he didn’t want to hear anymore.
Jed was not shocked by this one bit.
    Kagra however, began to snap.

“it’s not my fault his camera broke” kagra exclaimed “it’s not my fault if he worried”

Her voice became very shaky and she began to sob. She broke down onto her knees and covered her face with her hands.
Jed knelt next to her and tried to loosen her up

“I don’t know why I said that” Kagra said with a few sobs in that sentence “I am talking to my father. The one who cares to much”

Kagra broke into even heavier sobs by now as she shook violently. She was mostly sad because she didn’t quite understand why she was actually crying. She didn’t quite know if she was either crying about her attitude towards her father and the disgrace he gave her, or the mess she was now in. simply, she really didn’t know.

At the dinner, she sat quiet and peered the other way. she stirred her food around as she made no noise or effort of conversation.
Jed on the other hand did the same thing. He stirred his food around looking down at it as he thought deep into his mind. He felt sad. He didn’t know why either because he was defiantly not affected by Mr. Suki’s words of fear and sorrow. He was rather effected by his violent and impulsive speech about how much Jed didn’t know. Jed began to frown at his thoughts and he spoke suddenly

“I think were just rats in a mouse trap” Jed said under his breath “I think were just floating in this world……..”

Kagra didn’t look up but kept staring at her side.

“dad defiantly knows this world” Jed said quietly “but he’s keeping his mouth very, very shut about it”

The darkness outside did symbolize the dark Jed had mentioned. It was so devilishly dark that it was sure to be filled with the unknown. It pained to stare outside for all the secrets were hidden comfortably inside it.

But in all that darkness there was a round little circle. That circle was the moon. And the moon represented the light………………the light to all the secrets……………
